Composite fillings are a type of restorative treatment, using non-harmful plastic to fill in teeth that may be broken or damaged. Starting at $15, composite fillings are flexible, easy to shape and durable, which allows them to be moulded to perfectly fit the tooth. This factor will help both the appearance of the smile and to restore the natural function of the tooth.

What is Dental Filling?
A dental filling is a conservative restorative procedure that repairs a tooth damaged by carious lesions (cavities), fractures, or wear. The dentist removes the compromised structure and fills the prepared space with a durable, tooth-colored biocomposite material. This treatment aims to restore the tooth's natural morphology, function, and aesthetics while preventing further decay, all with minimal removal of healthy tooth structure.
What you gain from a modern Dental Filling?
-
Health & Comfort
We stop the cavity in its tracks by removing the decay and sealing the tooth. This protects it from further damage and relieves any pain or sensitivity you may feel.
-
A Natural Look & Feel
The filling material is carefully shaded to blend seamlessly with your tooth. We restore its original shape, so it looks, feels, and functions naturally again.
-
A Conservative Approach
Our goal is to save as much of your healthy tooth as possible. The bonding technique is gentle and precise. For larger repairs, we may recommend a strong inlay/onlay, which is often a better alternative to a full crown.
-
A Long-Lasting Solution
The materials we use are strong, wear-resistant, and designed to last for many years, allowing you to chew with confidence.
Common Dental Filling Materials
Dental Filling
Composite
Tooth-Colored Composite is the most popular choice. It blends seamlessly with your natural teeth and is bonded securely in place during a single visit. It's a great all-around option, though very large fillings may not be as long-lasting as other solutions.
Dental Filling
Inlay, Onlay
When a cavity is too large for a simple filling but the tooth doesn't need a full crown, a custom Porcelain Inlay or Onlay may be recommended. Crafted in a lab for a perfect fit, they are exceptionally strong and conservative, preserving more of your natural tooth.

Other Materials
Our dentist may also discuss Glass Ionomer for specific situations (like near the gumline) or, less commonly, Amalgam. The best choice depends on the size/location of the cavity, your aesthetic preferences, and long-term health goals.
The Step-by-Step Filling Procedure
Step 1: Consultation & Planning
Your dentist will examine your tooth, discuss the findings, and together you'll choose a composite material that matches your tooth color.
Step 2: Numbing & Preparing the Tooth
The area is gently numbed for your comfort. Then, the dentist carefully removes all the decayed material, leaving a clean space.
Step 3: Placing the Filling
A tooth-conditioning gel is applied to ensure a strong bond. The putty-like composite material is then layered into the space and hardened with a special blue light.
Step 4: Perfecting Your Bite & Shine
Finally, the dentist will shape the filling to feel perfectly natural, check your bite, and polish it to a smooth, shiny finish.
When should you get a Dental Filling?
Your journey begins with comprehensive 3D imaging and an in-depth consultation to assess your oral health and structure, forming the basis for a fully personalized treatment plan.-
Primary Caries
This is the most common indication. Fillings are the standard treatment to remove decayed tooth structure (carious lesions) and restore the tooth's integrity, whether the cavity is small or requires a moderate-sized restoration.
-
Failed Restorations
Existing fillings that are worn, cracked, leaking (which can cause recurrent decay underneath), or have lost their marginal seal require removal and replacement to re-establish a healthy and functional tooth structure.
-
Tooth Fractures
This includes repairing teeth with small chips, cracks, or fractures caused by trauma, accidental injury, or biting on hard objects. A filling can often restore the original contour and strength conservatively.
-
Tooth Wear
Fillings are also indicated to restore teeth that have lost structure due to non-decay related wear, such as dental erosion from acids, abrasion from aggressive brushing, or attrition from tooth grinding (bruxism).
