Braces are increasingly popular amongst adults, as well as children, and are currently one of the most common dental procedures worldwide. Braces are typically used to align and straighten the teeth, however can also be used to correct underbites, overbites and other various mouth and jaw defects. Starting at $1300, braces offer reliable, long term results.
We currently offer metal braces, ceramic braces and invisalign braces. Metal braces are the traditional form of braces, however have been redesigned over the years to appear smaller and less obvious, whilst still providing maximum results. Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, however appear less noticeable due to clear brackets and tooth-coloured wires. Starting from $5000, invisalign braces consist of 18-30 custom-made clear plastic aligners that, unlike traditional and ceramic braces, work like a mouth guard and can be removed by the patient.

What is Orthodontic Braces?
Conventional braces, or fixed orthodontic appliances, consist of brackets bonded to the teeth and a connecting archwire. This system applies continuous, gentle forces to guide tooth movement and jaw alignment over time. It is a foundational and versatile treatment effective for correcting a comprehensive range of malocclusions, including crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, and crossbites.
Why Are Braces Widely Used?
-
Precise Biomechanical Control
The fixed bracket-and-wire system allows the orthodontist to apply controlled, three-dimensional forces with high precision. This enables accurate tooth movement, root positioning, and correction of complex bite relationships that may be difficult to achieve with removable appliances.
-
Proven Effectiveness for All Case Complexities
Traditional braces are a time-tested solution capable of addressing the full spectrum of orthodontic issues, from mild crowding to severe skeletal discrepancies. Their versatility and power make them the gold-standard choice for comprehensive treatment.
-
Customizable Treatment Modalities
This method offers flexibility in approach, including different bracket types (e.g., ceramic for aesthetics) and wire sequencing protocols. Treatment can be tailored not only to the dental condition but also to patient preferences and lifestyle considerations.
-
Cost-Effective Solution
As a widely available and fundamental orthodontic technology, treatment with traditional braces often presents a more accessible financial option compared to many alternative systems, providing lasting value.
-
Predictable & Efficient Treatment Timeline
Due to their constant force application and the orthodontist's direct control at each adjustment, treatment with fixed braces typically follows a highly predictable and efficient schedule, minimizing unforeseen delays in achieving the final result.
-
Long-Term Stability of Results
The ability to achieve detailed, bodily tooth movement and proper root alignment contributes to a stable occlusal outcome. This foundational correction, when followed by proper retainer use, helps ensure the long-term durability of the treatment results.
How is the process of getting Orthodontic Braces in China?
Step 1: Diagnostic Evaluation & Records
Treatment begins with a thorough clinical examination and diagnostic imaging (including panoramic and cephalometric X-rays as needed). This assessment precisely diagnoses the malocclusion (e.g., crowding, overbite) and guides the development of a customized treatment plan, which may involve preliminary procedures like palatal expansion.
Step 2: Treatment Planning & Appliance Fabrication
Based on the evaluation, a detailed treatment plan is presented. Precise dental impressions or digital scans are taken to fabricate the custom orthodontic appliances (braces, potential expanders) that will be used.
Step 3: Braces Placement & Activation
The fixed braces (brackets and bands) are securely bonded to the teeth. The initial archwire is placed, marking the start of the active tooth movement phase. Detailed instructions on oral hygiene and diet are provided.
Step 4: Active Treatment & Adjustments
Throughout treatment, regular appointments (every 4-8 weeks) are scheduled for adjustments. The orthodontist changes archwires, adds auxiliary components (elastics, springs), and monitors progress to ensure teeth are moving as planned toward their corrected positions.
Step 5: Debanding & Retention
Once treatment goals are achieved and the bite is stable, the braces are carefully removed. A custom retainer is immediately provided. Consistent retainer wear is essential during this final phase to maintain the new alignment and prevent relapse.
Who should consider getting Orthodontic Braces?
Your journey begins with comprehensive 3D imaging and an in-depth consultation to assess your oral health and structure, forming the basis for a fully personalized treatment plan.-
Growing Children & Adolescents
This is the primary group. Braces are highly effective during childhood and teenage years when the jaw is still developing. They can guide jaw growth and tooth eruption to correct skeletal imbalances (like severe overbites or underbites) that clear aligners often cannot address in growing patients.
-
Severe or Complex Malocclusions
Individuals with significant issues such as large gaps, severe crowding requiring extractions, deep overbites, underbites, or rotated teeth often achieve the most efficient and predictable results with traditional braces due to the superior biomechanical control they offer over tooth and root movement.
-
Need a Fixed, Non-Removable Option
For patients who may lack the discipline to wear removable aligners for the required 22 hours daily, traditional braces provide a “non-compliance” solution. Once bonded, they work continuously, ensuring treatment progresses consistently without relying on patient adherence to a wear schedule.
-
Seeking a Cost-Effective, Comprehensive Solution
Traditional braces often represent the most economical choice for full, comprehensive orthodontic treatment. They provide excellent value, effectively treating a wide range of issues at a generally lower cost than most clear aligner systems for equivalent complex cases.
What Are Types Of Orthodontic Braces?
You have options when it comes to braces. Several main types of brackets are available, differing in material, appearance, and mechanics. During your consultation, we will discuss these choices and recommend the one that best aligns with your clinical needs, lifestyle, and personal priorities for comfort, aesthetics, and treatment duration.
Orthodontic
Standard Metal Braces
This system uses small, sturdy metal brackets attached to each tooth. It is a time-tested, highly effective method for achieving precise tooth alignment.
* Key Benefits: Known for exceptional strength and effectiveness, often at a lower cost. They are a predictable solution for even complicated tooth movements.
* Points to Consider: Their metallic appearance is highly visible. Some patients may also experience initial adjustment periods regarding comfort.
Orthodontic
Aesthetic Ceramic Braces
Designed for patients seeking a discreet look, these braces feature clear or tooth-colored brackets that are much less noticeable than traditional metal ones.
* Key Benefits: Excellent cosmetic appeal while maintaining high treatment effectiveness. They are a great middle-ground option for those prioritizing aesthetics without moving to a fully invisible system.
* Points to Consider: The ceramic brackets, while strong, can be more prone to chipping if bitten on hard objects and may require a bit more care. They are also typically a higher-cost option compared to standard metal braces.

Modern Self-Ligating Braces
These are an advanced type of metal braces that use a built-in clip instead of colored bands to hold the wire, offering a different approach to straightening teeth.
* Key Benefits: Many patients experience greater comfort due to reduced pressure and friction. The absence of elastic ties makes cleaning easier and can mean fewer and quicker adjustment visits.
* Points to Consider: This advanced technology generally comes at a higher price point than standard braces. The brackets, while efficient, can feel slightly bulkier against the lips than traditional ones.
Orthodontic
Self-Ligating Ceramic Braces
Considered a high-end aesthetic choice, these clear braces feature a built-in, clip-based system designed for efficient tooth movement without colored bands.
* Key Benefits: Offers a discreet appearance while the self-ligating technology aims to provide smoother, potentially faster alignment with fewer and quicker adjustment visits.
* Points to Consider: This advanced combination typically comes at the highest cost. The functional clip on each bracket, though small, may be slightly more noticeable than a standard clear bracket.

MEAW Archwire Braces
The MEAW (Multiloop Edgewise Archwire) technique employs a specialized archwire with multiple vertical loops. This design allows the orthodontist to apply precise, segmented forces to individual teeth or groups of teeth, making it a powerful tool for correcting complex malocclusions involving vertical and transverse discrepancies, such as severe deep bites or facial asymmetries.
